Excellent week end in Junior Max at PFI for Sandy

9 October 2013

Sandy was really looking forward to getting back in a Junior Max kart. He had a brief taste of the increase in power earlier in the season when competing in Junior Max for the 1st time at the Euro-max Round at PFi.

He settled back into Junior quickly on the Friday and went on to show good pace all day Saturday during testing.

Sunday’s official practice couldn’t have got off to a better start with Sandy setting fastest lap overall with a time of 59.79 seconds, just one hundredth quicker than the next fastest time.

P2 was the starting position for his first heat and Sandy was shuffled wide and onto the wet grass during the start, he then had to re-join at the back and follow a trail of karts for most of the race whilst the battenburg flag was waved for the majority of the race resulting in a 17th finishing position.

Sandy started his second heat from P16 and had a great race overtaking and worked his way up to finish 4th, the third heat went equally as well with lots of overtaking by Sandy to work his way up from P30 on the grid to finish 12th. This gave a starting position of P12 for the final.

The final produced some thrilling close racing. This was a superb race to watch and with an excellent 5th place finish for Sandy this would prove to be a good way to round off a very enjoyable and successful weekend in Junior Max.

Sandy: ”I really enjoyed being back in Junior Max and I am very happy with my 5th place finish in only my second time in a Junior kart........ Thanks again to everyone at RL racing and my sponsors Smartcomm and SGM distribution!”
