Sandy started out on four wheels at the age of four and a half when he was lucky enough to get his hands on a Honda powered off road AK 10 buggy. He quickly learned over steer, under steer and how to do “doughnuts”!!

After a few visits to the Lets Go Karting at Knockhill in 2008 Sandy passed his ARKS test and started Karting at the age of nine the following year at The North of Scotland Kart Club. Huge thanks to everyone at Golspie!!

2009 and in his 1st year, Sandy went on to win the NSKC Honda Cadet Championship at Golspie , finished 3rd in the Scottish “A” Plate Championship and then went on to finish 4th in the Scottish “S” Plate Championship with some great club wins.

2010 In his 2nd Honda Cadet season Sandy went on to become the Scottish “A” Plate Champion, the Scottish “S” Plate Champion, North of Scotland Karting Club Champion and win The Northern Challenge Trophy collecting many other club trophies on the way.

2011 Sandy graduated to the Super One Honda Cadet Championship attending circuits south of the border for the very first time racing with Project One Racing. He went on to finish an impressive 6th overall with a win and a third at Shenington setting the lap record at the same time. Sandy was once more the Scottish “S” Plate Champion and also the Scottish “A” Plate Vice Champion.

2012 This has been another fantastic season with Project One Racing, for Sandy was crowned the British Honda Cadet Open Champion at Rowrah and then Vice Champion in the Honda Cadet Super One Championship with 9 Podium positions including 3 wins. At PFI Sandy fought hard for his 3rd place finish at the GP Kartmasters.

2013 Sandy graduated to Minimax and went on to finish 7th overall in the British Super One Championship in his first year in this highly competitive class with entries of over forty karts per round. Sandy was a front runner throughout and scored numerous fastest laps and pole positions. Sandy was also one of a select few drivers offered a place with the Arden Young Racing Driver Academy (YRDA) based in Banbury, a great opportunity and achievement. Sandy, after 11 months in Mimimax has now graduated to Junior Rotax and will continue with his current team, RL racing Department Ltd. Sandy will now prepare for the 2014 Super One British Championship in this class and is already enjoying running at the front in the latest closely fought club rounds.

2014 Sandy adapted quickly in his first year in Junior Max and went on to become British Super One Junior Rotax Champion. Sandy ran with Steve Armstrong's RL Racing Department Ltd. Sandy is now considering a move to single seater racing for 2015.

2015 Sandy signed for the TRS Arden Junior Team and competed in the new MSA Formula Championship that ran with the British Touring Cars TOCA package. He had an excellent first season in single seaters with five overall podiums including two wins and also sixteen Rookie podium finishes which included for Rookie wins. Sandy finished seventh in the overall MSA Formula Championship, he was the second highest placed rookie in the overall championship.

2016 Sandy along with his team mate Ciaran Haggerty competed as a Silver/Silver pairing in the British GT Championship driving the brand new McLaren 570S GT4 Race Car. They finished third overall in the GT4 Championship and finished runners up in the Silver drivers' standings. Sandy became the youngest ever pole-sitter and race winner with wins at both Snetterton and Donington. Sandy also collected the Sunoco Fastest Lap Award at Spa Francorchamps and at Donington, Sandy's fastest lap at Spa is a new British GT4 lap record.

2017 Sandy had the honour to be selected for BRDC Rising Stars programme and also became a McLaren GT Academy Driver. Sandy competed the full season in the British GT Championship in the McLaren 570S. Silver/Silver partnership with Ciaran Haggerty. Sandy was awarded the Sunoco Fastest GT4 Driver of the weekend at both Oulton Park and Rockingham with a race win at Snetterton also.  Sandy was selected, worked hard on his exposure and won the vote for the LMP3  Sports Insure Young Driver Initiative and pairing with Sir Chris Hoy. Sandy took a second place finish on his LMP3 debut.

 

2018 Sandy made the step up to Blancpain GT Endurance Series and had a stunning debut season in the BlackBull Whisky Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 taking a win at Paul Ricard and a closely fought second place finish at the 24 Hours of Spa. Sandy along with fellow drivers Martin Kodric and Michele Berreta were still in within touching distance of the Silver Cup Championship win at the last round at Barcelona only to pick up damage from an opponent’s car and eventually finishing P3 in The Silver Cup Championship. After setting impressive times and race drives he became an official Lamborghini Squadra Corse GT3 Junior Driver.

 

2019 Sandy will compete in two championships for 2019. He will return to the Blancpain Endurance Championship, again backed by Black Bull Whisky in the brand new Barwell Lamborghini Huracan Evo. He will also race in America for the first time with Wayne Taylor Racing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Championship. He will race in the Prestige Performance and Black Bull backed #1 car.
