Chris 2013 update...

18 February 2013

After failing to secure a big enough budget in 2012 to compete in a full season's racing, Chris - who only the year before became the second youngest driver to compete in ‘The British touring Car Championship’ - only managed two meetings in Europe. Those being the Italian Clio Cup at Imola, and the other the Bohemia Clio Cup at the Red Bull Arena. These both helped to widen Chris’s experience both in Europe and front wheel drive racing, with a hope that he could return to competing in a full season of competitive racing in the UK in 2013, but a routine operation to remove his tonsils at the beginning of January may have put pay to that.

The operation took place on 11th January, but the wound failed to heal correctly. Following several minor bleeds, Chris was rushed back into hospital on 25th January bleeding profusely from his throat, to such an extent that he lost in excess of 4 pints of blood. This required a major blood transfusion and he spent the next few days in hospital. Recovery is slow and Chris is back to see the specialist on 19th February, with the hope he may be given the go ahead to start some light training later in the week.

With the pre-season passing him by, and possible driving opportunities being filled by other drivers, Chris is desperate to get back into training and get some valuable time behind the wheel. But as he says ‘Getting behind the wheel is one thing, then we have to get some sponsorship deals rolling. We can’t really discuss them until I know whether I am going to be fit enough to compete in the first race of the season. With the specialist telling me it could take months to get back to the same level of fitness I was before the operation, this is looking increasing doubtful. I should know a lot more after the 19th Febuary.’
