Chris 2012 update...

10 September 2012

Chris - at just 17 last year - became the second youngest driver ever to compete in The British Touring Car Championship, will not take any part in the remainder of the Championship this season. Chris was let down by a major sponsor only weeks before this season was due to start, and therefore had to pull out of this year’s Championship, has competed in a couple of meetings in Italy and Belgium, in a Clio with Team Pyro to gain some valuable front wheel driving experience, and had considered, and was talking to a couple of teams about doing one or two of the remaining meetings in the BTCC this season, but has decided that any funds he can raise are best directed to making sure he can do a full season next year.

Chris who has maintained his fitness throughout this season by training up to five times a week at Platium Gym in Ilkeston, and Nick Jelly’s in Leicester, said: ‘It’s hard to stay focussed on your training when you are not competing on a regular basis, but I’d like to thank both Gym’s for all their support throughout the summer. As for next year, I don’t know yet, it depends so much on budgets and sponsorship and after the problems at the beginning of this year, it proves you can’t assume anything until the season starts. I would like to do Touring Cars again especially next season, as the cars will all be NGT cars and it will be more of a level playing field. Although some of the older more established drivers do seem to get the rub of the green when the younger, newer drivers don’t.
